Dr John Eaton

Dr John Eaton entered General Practice in Saffron Walden in 1977 after leaving the Royal Navy, where he had been a Ships Medical Officer. John was a founder member of BASICS in 1977 and was founder Chairman of SWAG (the Saffron Walden Accident Group) in 1979, which later became MEDICS (the Mid Essex Doctors Immediate Care Scheme) until 2013, when it merged with NEEDES to form BEARS. John has been heavily involved with BASICS nationally, was BASICS Hon Treasurer and later Hon Secretary and wrote Essentials of Immediate Medical Care.John was Cinical Assistant in Charge of the Casualty Department at Saffron for several years.John holds the Diploma in Immediate Medical Care of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and taught on many of the BASICS Education courses.John is now semi-retired from General Practice, but is the Club Doctor for the Cambridge Rugby Union Football Club, works as a Crowd Doctor at events such as the the V Concerts and is a Faculty Member of The English RFU Immediate Care in Sport courses.John is Vice Chairman of BEARS.Click here to return to¬†‘BEARS Clinicians’
