Dr Ian Gibson MBE, Qualified at Manchester Medical School in 1966.
Qualifications: MB.ChB. MRCGP Dip. Obst. (RCOG) Dip. IMC (RCS Ed.) DTM&H (London) Certificates: ATLS (Provider) ACLS (Provider) APLS (Provider & Instructor level) MIMMS (Provider) PHEC PEPPAfter qualifying Ian worked for 4 years in hospital and one year as an assistant lecturer in physiology at Manchester Medical School.In 1971 Ian started in General Practice in Braintree in Essex. Initially in a two man practice and also looking after patients in the cottage hospital along with being a GP Obstetric practitioner. Ian was also a Hospital Practitioner for the Dept. of Medicine for the Elderly. Police surgeon for Braintree district and GP representative on the Health Authority.Ian retired from full time General Practice in 2008. Since then he has been doing regular Locum work in Essex. Ian is now concentrating more on remote medicine and over the last few years he has worked in the Falkland Islands, Orkney and Shetland.Ian has been involved with charitable work in Uganda and visits Bangladesh every year to audit and teach midwives in a charitable scheme that he helped to set up four years ago.Ian started with voluntary Pre-hospital Emergency Care in October 1973 with the founding of North East Essex Doctors Emergency Service and became in rotation, the communication officer, Equipment Officer, Vice Chairman and Chairman. He became a BASICS member when it was formed in 1977.
